organized by the Federation of German Industries (BDI)
An innovative B2B platform ecosystem is currently flourishing in Europe. At the same time, the EU Commission is planning to further regulate platforms with its Digital Services Acts. This poses the questions: Do B2B and B2C platforms possess the same characteristics? Should they be regulated in the same way?
In this webtalk, Johannes Koenen (ARC ECON) will present the findings of the ifo Institute’s study entitled “Industrial Digital Economy – B2B Platforms”, commissioned by the Federation of German Industries (BDI). The study examines the network effects, economies of scale and competition existing on and between B2B platforms.
In addition, Christoph Strnadl (Software AG) and Peter Lukesch (ondeso GmbH) will showcase two IIoT platforms “Made in Germany”. Based on these insights from academia and business, Werner Stengg (EU Commission) and Stefanie Stündel (BDI) will discuss the EU Commission’s intentions to regulate digital platforms.
